Meet your Instructor
David Bittorf is a seasoned 3D artist and educator with over 20 years of professional and academic experience. He currently serves as a Professor at Laguna College of Art + Design, where his teaching has earned strong praise from both students and department leadership for its clarity, rigor, and real-world relevance.
David brings broad expertise across industry-standard tools including Maya, ZBrush, Blender, Substance Painter, Procreate, and Photoshop. In addition to college-level instruction, he has worked extensively as a private tutor, earning consistent top ratings and ranking in the top 10% of tutors on Wyzant in 2020.
What sets David apart is his strong foundation in traditional art, deep understanding of anatomy, and years of figure drawing experience—skills that inform both his artwork and his teaching philosophy. His contributions to education span multiple institutions, including Platt College, where he was recognized with Teacher of the Year and CG-VFX Instructor of the Year awards.
Alongside teaching, David has built a successful career as a Senior 3D Artist, contributing to a range of high-profile video game projects such as NBA Bounce, Bratz, Barbie, The Cat in the Hat, Elf on the Shelf, and The Order: 1886. Through the David Bittorf 3D Training Center, he brings this combined industry and teaching experience into a focused, practical learning environment.
